We all had so much fun!

As I was making stuff for the party, I gave everyone some M&Ms. Tucker was still sick, but I thought he would still eat them. Nope. When we were growing up, she always, ALWAYS called it Big Toe, Idaho. Now I think it is so appropriate that she lives there! Long story short (too late!), I went to visit her for a birthday surprise last month. Her hubby flew me down and somehow, someway, we were able to keep it a secret from her. Andy took some time off work to watch Derek, Tucker and Zane so that Will and I could go there.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh8aJlEXiWjYS2ctLmry5xY7jKyx3h5fj6SConz4W9mGY4J-Q_G73noVVVDCagRb5Y3MEJksJO0W0EhBy6sdcvZDiK8WOHBAI8OUTqTqOyk6fgdmqmsD0SVdE9xML0cokkBiqxvYT0MqicY/s400/056.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5505095074774625842" />
This is Julie with her little girl, Emrie.

When she saw me, we both screamed! Derek was concerned about how we were going to do this since none of us are true Jedi. I told him that Andy & I would take an online course. They believed that we did! So after completing our course of study, we had the boys do light saber training (bouncing a balloon with the saber) and blaster training (nerf guns with targets). Our friend down the street helped us (he, too was trained online in the ways of the Force).

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjK5VAo1FHwztA9oPOZRtscZDxj9emrtAHWUNz0oBdUhWY-9PA6yAjMBKOFhN95Jy_neIhQA_7B0shvN8OKl-T124KPNxhe2OkA_vTw9QGEOmY9MaD5f9sxIg5uf46SlrmUxFK7a9oMftsF/s400/021.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5501397199463384306" />

However, our friend and Andy were truly bad guys and there was a small battle where they were defeated by a bunch of energized boys with light sabers and nerf guns!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgM9POanS8_XlRUpGhYiR47_QQ7cHhYjcPjw6GCrBCmPwy66ksRFVGuaYtxk24-luauYjsKrK0NhWqibtcTYzDfFef-m8jOz5d6AHeKsUMs0YR7P9lhhnBodlcrc7G3Vjh0cQmx1S_EoBrb/s400/024.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5501397203913753442" />

We had cake and presents. I think we have a while though.

Will cut his first tooth today! That's perhaps why he looks slightly grumpy in this picture. It is more fun to get money from the tooth fairy than to have a baby tooth slice through your gum!

This might also explain why he drools and chews on EVERYTHING! It is so funny when he starts chewing on something because it is a whole body experience. He grabs the "chewie" and once it gets to the sweet spot in his mouth, his shoulders hunch over, his legs go up and his toes start to curl. He really gets into it. That was really cool! I think Andy and the other dads had more fun than the boys did! We didn't get pictures of this one because it was too fun to watch in person. If you want to find out what it looks like, then try it yourself! Get a 2 liter of Diet Coke and a pack of mentos (extra mentos for munching on). Take the paper wrapper off and leave the foil one on. Drop it in the bottle and run! The mentos that are not dissolved can be used again for a second, less explosive eruption (perfect for the kids that want to drop it in). A few people got a little Coke on themselves, but no one seemed to mind. Andy also got the idea to put the mentos in, put the lid on and turn it upside down and toss it. That was REALLY explosive and you should watch out for people, cars, houses and things. We all survived. The neighbors think we are crazy now. Either that or they wish they would have thought of it themselves!Andy and Adrienne Basshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08008569720835674486noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6126874387129762340.post-33433091364804794482010-06-06T21:22:00.001-06:002010-06-06T22:17:28.942-06:00SCHOOL'S OUT!HURRAY! He graduated from Preschool and is now ready to enter the world of public education. He looked so cute in his cap and gown. I got all sappy and emotional (what is wrong with me?). They sang some cute songs that Tucker has been practicing over and over and over. He really is a very good singer and the boy has rhythm. They gave the kids a rolled up blank piece of paper instead of the real diploma so they wouldn't have the real one all rolled up. So when Tucker was playing graduation later that day with Derek, he said, "Congratulations! Here is your blank piece of paper."

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgWDat7Ga1RusK9gE74onoY1jVhF1ILuThi0GTpn7MJUBqotoOWXnGsLjsTPHNBuHYqcMrZa6qQ_OSzL0ngJePBLx0uw5jNK4O3pNcOaw-LsLc00cGqDrg38xtw5tD2a4aQtXU3ppK-_soL/s400/014.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5473732832263834562" />

Tucker loved his teachers: Ms. Cheryl and Ms. Janet. Someone rang our doorbell at nine o'clock last night. It was our neighbor across the street. She told us a big snake was in our yard and she was worried about the our kids and her grandkids coming in contact with it. Andy and I went out armed with a shovel and a camera. Our neighbor's son was there with a shovel as well, but was not willing to make the first move. I don't blame him.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEheMoTnmi7k9aqj5Lt8_F-E-8M-RgDzCOe4beeszbgtzfMr9Ub0Ho7OpEVUr8oPpNHupdvPRzvJ2YeFXgWmV5ii4CRIsHtlRJ11GKlfoPMfoLxJXHhW4Vrz-kimxmgUzwj546wgw6iSiZCh/s400/018.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5473730123249162130" />

For those of you who know Andy, he is terrified of snakes. However, he took the shovel and whacked that thing about a dozen times. This might seem inhumane, but who knows how long Animal Control would have taken. What if it was poisonous and there are all these kids on the street? I don't want to have a snake slither into my home. Anyway, Derek was supposed to be in bed, but heard all the commotion and came out. I think he is in awe of his Dad. Kudos to Andy for overcoming his fear.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhsik4IEAQ0miAEvcv5Gu2hiecmAg0tElGVEXemqpqNSwgv_vu9spTPrN3v_S8fE1l8Wa09nX9vIt5w2GcFQ8403iJZfj8ZK8G2VkqliMJIUYLtI6joUKKLYGYBkhGEp165Dyh4S2DXfPVL/s400/019.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5473730124751111842" />Andy and Adrienne Basshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08008569720835674486noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6126874387129762340.post-49658768572814878772010-05-13T08:42:00.003-06:002010-05-13T08:56:00.788-06:00Did I Hear a "Niner" in There?<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEixXq4Jz_ip8iJYVwlQAhMx8dg7KTdNMum6ljVtlxg8c__Qc_RmD_wvZDLQqeFMsc4_kXZNVJ1nybljoQbbVt-nDE6J0fmIigKMNzHAIa-q2ptkyQvoDMx2hl0s6-Iyq3FetRkNKtEX7RXW/s400/004.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5470768047231105906" />

Andy and I celebrated NINE years of marriage yesterday! He also caught a fish last weekend at a fish rodeo at Andy's work. He was thrilled, but wouldn't touch it. He is also starting to bring things home - live things. What a year it has been! Words to describe Houston:

HOT and HUMID

That is about all you can say. It is not my favorite climate to live in, but it is what it is.

This Easter weekend, we spent with Nana and Grandpa in Galveston. It was a little chilly and foggy, but we still had fun. We went to the beach and saw dead jellyfish that had washed up. On another beach another day, we saw a dead baby dolphin that had washed up. I guess it was Marine Death weekend, instead of the usual Marine Life that we see at the beach.

The boys had a good Easter though and it was so nice to see our family. Will hadn't met his Grandpa yet, so it was exciting for them both. Will is very smily now and his head kind of wobbles around while he is grinning. Super cute! He is the king of spit bubbles. That has been true since day one. If this keeps up, he might have a hard time getting a date . . .Andy and Adrienne Basshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08008569720835674486noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6126874387129762340.post-7341884710387262202010-03-18T14:40:00.003-06:002010-03-18T14:47:31.637-06:00End of the RainbowWe wore green:

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJDMOehuxyF6TmwtgursmbdaB-_3uS9Oxm6nct0smgqIVqrsFZgQSqVtRB37IPoHMwB5mjmjbXyXb7K_XcapychTsIxTR6jTxFYRXLA839qSCp2t-KtbIvhhxSCkJFHGqc_NBASd9VXz5s/s400/037.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5450077670006308722" />

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipIvv1kn0o1sJjVpXMl_G8rJPllnkQmxTrGWWE1LUuME0TtagDmuR9hRf5GM15XfjTdOk1E4UBL1y1hvhL3cp04w2OBqBtDvGaVStdId7s61MQ4QhJj_-6le0jHZvZBKSS0mycGkkQ8MW7/s400/036.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5450077654012185730" />

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi8NAE1hGAPAzgCe7RV-kOGWy9q7oTfp6Vrh907ivsxoYv_hOzOF-L0gi7CTG2tC6CjvhOm7WMkyCZ7aUMMrsjnZnRmd5f2mBWeJXvKXLmqrClbJtw0bk1VVeQGmena1tFrvpM1QWNbnmyv/s400/032.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5450077648541414578" />

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgfYklwhP-vje5yEh5t2Ers7FhNX5TJeDzZAFdoKmob_9X-8HBnhp5P9GI2k2J9Ig4WdK60CxoWGjX3PPeztNgbzoP7sA3GepsS_nTrckWJcOcECVvk1jzT2L89-FRJEa1QUdnysnAn04A2/s400/041.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5450078119254420738" />

We had a "rainbow" for dinner (tacos with grapes and blue gatorade). Crazy schedule with kids in school, a two-year-old who needs naps but rarely gets more than twenty minutes, lots of night meetings for Andy, Andy gone at church every Wednesday and some Saturdays, oh yeah, and a newborn to feed

2. Speaking of a newborn (Will is a month old now!), I had a nursing crisis this week. It is somewhat resolved now, but if anyone can explain the throbbing pain I feel AFTER I nurse, let me know ASAP!! I've decided men doctors aren't helpful when it comes to this. Waste of time and money.

3. Andy sprained his ankle. It is pretty nasty looking and extremely painful for him.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhLRD8qgvp9EnUdtJ2UGTv9zh8qMKh1JCAnxXvKJ8BVqwzubAx9TvvFe622WbYTL2Y1v9NcGs926WrOdN3PK3aP6kEJtkaX9vruxFWzyGFR4-FcoJ2v7svzKmMLw2mJUPd-VriSIWToyoFB/s400/007.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5446120531330811074" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEggGyvImbmQLpPU_bphcBK8G1n-y5gys_CPHhzPh0bOdAvwSbOzzBZsWbxcvCrOWCYQbJhlfEGo30RoPw7QBqHgKq60uV6VpCFyEBAxNbQj2iqYZPT8-_-HE1NcqAe16GzwWGvfiCUQKpaS/s400/010.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5446120523966822914" />

He was playing tennis. Now he has no toes due to the incredible swelling, limps and shuffles around, and can't drive.

The case for the lamb:

1. Will is growing and getting more alert. He slept six hours in a row last night and slept for five in a row the two nights before. Go baby go!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhhTa3SB8zbH6VNdwREdzWo02BJeYQYoJSIGcgMFy9u1QvHUxFl0aOJtXuRhXy1z9CghCE46KJZT1FALmLQ8ZXouLVoMJ0B2HcGyv5ox3VK__DEPYeiuBUNudwRYHY8P2sd1jUL0faPn51Q/s400/006.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5446120514784553154" />

2. Because of my nursing woes, Andy took half a day off to help and hang out with the boys who had been missing him terribly with all those night meetings and such.

3. Because of Andy's sprained ankle, he took Friday off and we helped each other and hung out with our boys who all need more time and attention from us.

So, maybe its a tie between the lion and the lamb. In order to sway it towards the lamb, we went miniature golfing. I got a hole-in-one on Hole 4. Four boys, hole 4 . . . it was cool.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiLysyFn1rcIpdmKDn4tJJEdqeWa4uEIqblXP2SBVXB4e4rE_LOw9ePlcqVcVjg-DKxiyWNFTbOHncfyr2EdJhJEffzDOLd7F64MNphC2ELnTZIkF_awShLvtWYYoS7r9XthLfFZstwkNlh/s400/014.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5446120535347443634" />

Derek took the picture. So we researched him and found five interesting facts about him. If you don't know, he was an African-American botanist that came up with all these different uses for peanuts and sweet potatoes. He also helped fortmer slaves become better farmers and improve their lives. He also taught at a University. So he did lots of great things. The last thing that we wrote in his report was that he fell down the stairs and died.

Andy came home and asked him who George Washington Carver was.
His response: "I don't know."
I prompted him with: "Who is your report on?"
Derek: "Oh yeah, George Washington Carver."
Andy then asks: "What did he do?"
Derek says: "He fell down the stairs and died."

All that this great man did and Derek only remembers a guy falling down the stairs!

We have to make a diorama next. I'm going to suggest a peanut farm but I think it might turn out to be a guy falling down the stairs! So sorry Mr. Carver!Andy and Adrienne Basshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08008569720835674486noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6126874387129762340.post-22229318357852119642010-01-19T19:14:00.003-07:002010-01-19T19:22:49.815-07:00Don't Eat Pete!This game caused great joy in our home this week! We played it after Family Home Evening and lets just say we will play it again for sure! I found it on ldssplash.com and all you need are M&Ms or something similar. You lay out seven or eight M&Ms and someone leaves the room. You designate one of the M&Ms to be "Pete" and don't tell the person who left the room. They come back and eat the M&Ms one by one until they reach for "Pete." Then everyone shouts "DON'T EAT PETE!" Tucker was so excited he was just wiggling with joy! Zane was shouting the whole game which translates to excitement and Derek would have played all night! I want to always remeber the absolute joy in Tucker when we were playing. That memory is truly something special to me and Andy.Andy and Adrienne Basshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08008569720835674486noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6126874387129762340.post-71195466354430892692010-01-07T15:21:00.002-07:002010-01-07T15:40:14.559-07:00New Year, New Rooms!Andy finished Derek's bedroom and Derek got to sleep there New Year's Day. It was a longer project than we thought, but it is done and Derek loves it. We painted, built a closet, put in a door, and got him a bed. It sounds so simple, and yet . . .

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-mfZZUcVnho1M86pVEiFeAOBnw28BAUe-Ih5GH2BLAYTVoGpoi0nyu_-VejHILbyTcKO76UNgDsU9dIbSEYo_d5zYcbeyoRdZJrqu_JeKDZbXy_WLzBVOQ-VhqmKV6VaqqvPieNXhr1BL/s400/011.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5424128041790389698" />

Once Derek moved out of the bunkbed, Zane got to move out of the crib and into the bottom bunk. He was so very excited to sleep in the same room as Tucker. Of course, crib to bed isn't as easy as all that, but he is doing remarkably well and hopefully won't try to reclaim the crib when the baby comes!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhElujKHfV91sUZksi0i9yUb_tmr3uYn6vE2-6yOgFBGH69LqMW5FAUYe7rRRWYs1vOWXYhfVrwoplmeKqt0A5XagtITR4-BGkfwDH3RU_co5StV3mlS-BN6zOD7YGTIrJS1ekTQxxpR5VN/s400/015.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5424128050632201042" />

Tucker stayed put, but was such a great helper. He helped load people's clothes into boxes and put them away in their drawers. He was thrilled about his new bunkmate. What's more is everyone sleeps in a little later (of course, now that school has started, that isn't such a great thing, but I'll take what I can get).

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhm8Zmx0GycAGe96maXSopw_sg5j36RpkjbbOajgw_yuBg3RLeo8ydZ-QTDu-u1z8rJO02Nb6X5LMYzu3LFAd7bUTYKi5JXlxwzxry8xuCu_i_krda4Swvl2SrgcQnHPaSxDRsWCQziMBhR/s400/016.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5424128058090658882" />Andy and Adrienne Basshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08008569720835674486noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6126874387129762340.post-75959416756813286672010-01-02T20:19:00.004-07:002010-01-02T20:37:23.413-07:00New Year's Eve<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOsrI0EvC54bZihaV3G7f-M0HKa5HMNa3X74xpVMeIRUP5XjWGEGKxQ8L8SZ_O38U43Q9PyZ18P8o1PzEi9TEftDh1SyFmw-jhY4sW0zwLudGmweLgaSxg_KJVSWY0Fp3gejQFQzGjKhKW/s400/005.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5422350812274094530" />

We went to the Aquarium for New Year's Eve and had a great time! Poor Zane was scared for parts of it. It was really dark in the exihibits and they had sound effects like you were inside a creaky boat. I guess that might have had something to do with it. We saw cool animals though!

They have a Shark Train ride where you ride through a tunnel of sharks. Everybody loved that! Zane and I weren't allowed, so we sat and waved to them as they twirled by.

My favorite was the octopus, but you couldn't take flash photos of it. It was spread out over the glass so you got a very good view of all the suction cups on its legs. Andy's favorite was the sea turtle at the large restaurant aquarium. There are still lots of trees with green leaves on them and flowers in full bloom. We had a huge thunderstorm early, early Christmas Eve morning. Patch hid under the bed from all the lightning and thunder.

Unfortunately, Zane was still sick and didn't fully enjoy the experience.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjzAbxYb6I4PL-7_7Hup4lAOK5RgEPSywppT1e_9clX4Yzq-zFkQSLSyvrZUNpha2_QnIdTd1OqghWcYKV-EpIfYyDu34lHr8zYxjWU-R3OhPwnN83aqIGQ5-g-66hBID9ZnThgp_ykXaCC/s400/013.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5420794066733034386" />

About noon-ish, Tucker started fading and spent the rest of the day on the couch with a fever. He decided not to eat or drink anything and it went unnoticed by me and Andy (oops!). He got dehydrated and threw up the next morning. Once he got hydrated, he recovered slowly. Derek thankfully never got the fever and remained somewhat healthy. Even Andy and I had a cold and cough this holiday. No one has shot their eye out yet, but stay tuned . . .Andy and Adrienne Basshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08008569720835674486noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6126874387129762340.post-50184456946157654212009-12-23T13:16:00.004-07:002009-12-23T13:30:31.690-07:00Zane is TWO!!!Our little "Bubba" is growing up!

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhNde9EdixUbbFt8XJbefw-cKOrxSf3yxD16uGXcn5deUKyuwstKNEyKyIyKZEaRGdOjDqiS75BJQp5vHYNHvpb9DGFU4M17pnkFGXUDcqmiAKyoqytRcN5THbzq4qeEQXUjDuxsAr-vAGM/s400/013.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5418528772220011234" />

Unfortunately, he has been quite sick the past few days and was still feverish when it was time to open presents.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZw5TPp5IPdp0rJT6K7iVe-8gKCtaiuBv5bIuykL88D70GVQ86RIBU79xhq99jK_pxWl7JRmOi3ZXcVdkZmqwMSt-CMnX6f2OAeJvRuSIEfs2hHhgGzFs8LTIEOCqJsRWGnyIoSlRPrZKM/s400/018.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5418528778411067106" />

I gave him some Tylenol and he perked up around dinnertime and cake time. Today, he is doing better, but still irritable and needs a great deal of snuggling and holding.

He got a new bike and LOVES it! Since he was sick and it was rainy, the bike is an inside bike for now and he just zips and zooms around the downstairs. Funny story about our other big wheel bike that we had for Tucker: I accidentally backed over it in the car when we lived in Bayfield. (Maybe I shouldn't have admitted that!) It was of course my fault because I put it behind the car in a hurry thinking I would move it later. We know the ending to that little story. But the happy ending is Zane's joy at having a big wheel bike. (Sorry to Tucker for the hours he missed out pedaling away on a big wheel).

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 300px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgASu5zU2NR8OvBqKukNNaoz1tcJLU2khtg1-sUlUqEXaJCHDl0SchAxv6Ey5hyphenhyphenBcOTsHzBuM_di3WZDopSLQkXt_TRWmhnwEMx-R4fUvla1hiGxPE1P2yztSiYJj03BHZy2lELs0nQ8Yxd/s400/020.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5418528789616470178" />

This is supposed to be Lightning McQueen. Houstonians absolutely FREAKED OUT! It was on the news for quite a while that it might happen and people were stock piling things like wood, space heaters, insulation for their pipes, and even sweaters for their dogs. We were laughing at all of this. So Friday, the snow came and it was BEAUTIFUL. Perfect for building a snowman and throwing snowballs. Andy made all his employees go out and play in it and I pulled the boys out of school early to do the same. I know, I know, it sounds silly, but how long until they see snow again? We had a grand time and played snowball baseball and all of that sort of thing. Then we came in and drank hot chocolate (that was lukewarm because that's how Tucker likes it) and watched a Christmas movie. It actually felt like December that day.

About 10:30 that night, our heater decided it was just too cold and quit completely. The coldest night in decades in Houston and our heater is busted! That's what we get for laughing at these poor innocent people in a snowstorm.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhAglcb41c3WIl-wESvmuu0hevnVqV8hs552I1lTAB6jBDAyhTkjPkjI8eEmB5uj2ZJM8kRwRJOOxnMJMYfVgyfkpdsgHRi5kq-39mY46GVauHG07yOPL1D45DskzdnwI-QIh4E0UqQYqga/s400/057.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5417177471304209106" />

I went to Walmart and to get a small space heater and as I pulled up, I saw a woman who needed help. Her windsheild was thickly coated in ice and snow and she was trying to get it off with her umbrella. I found my scraper in my trunk and came over to her aid. I asked if I could help her and she said she was about to go fill a bottle of water to pour over her windsheild. I quickly stopped her and scraped off her car in less than two minutes. She was SO grateful! I advised her to use a credit card in the unlikely event that this would happen again. I just hope that if I am doing something stupid to prepare for a hurricane or something, that some Houstonian will help me out.

Our heater couldn't be repaired until Monday morning, but we snuggled up together and were just fine. We learned to not laugh at others and that flannel sheets really can be used in Houston. (To think I almost gave them to my sister!)Andy and Adrienne Basshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08008569720835674486noreply@blogger.com0
